Ingredients

Modelling paste (see related recipe)
Queens Yellow food colouring
Dark chocolate melts, melted
Natural sliced almonds
Butter cream icing (see related recipe)
Cupcakes
Chocolate sprinkles

Instructions

Step 1
Knead modelling paste on a work surface lightly dusted with icing sugar until smooth. Add a few drops of yellow food colouring and knead until well combined.

Step 2
Working with a small amount of modelling paste at a time, use a rolling pin to roll out until 2mm thick. Use a 41/2 cm leaf-shaped cutter lightly dusted with icing sugar to cut out some petals. Cover the petals with plastic wrap to prevent them from drying out.
Step 3
Gently pinch a petal in half lengthways and open out slightly to create a three-dimensional effect. Place on a clean board and repeat with the remaining petals. Set aside overnight or until dry and firm. Brush each petal with yellow food colouring. Set aside to dry.
Step 4
To make a bee, roll a level teaspoon of yellow modelling paste into an oval shape. Spoon the melted chocolate into a small sealable plastic bag with 1 corner cut off. Pipe 3 lines of chocolate over the oval to create the body of the bee. Use a little melted chocolate to secure 2 small pieces of sliced almonds to the body of the bee to create the wings. Pipe 2 small dots on the body to create eyes. Set aside until chocolate has set.
Step 5
Combine a few drops of yellow food colouring with the butter cream icing to tint it to the desired colour. Spread butter cream icing over the top of a cupcake. Insert about 20 petals into the icing to create a flower, leaving a small semi-circle on one edge. Sprinkle the semi-circle with chocolate sprinkles to form the centre of the flower. Carefully top with the bee.
