Potato Cutlets are a lovely simple addition to an afternoon tea or lunch/dinner menu. Sharing a quick potato cutlets recipe to make this yummy side dish. This is a great recipe to include your children. My five-year-old daughter helped me this afternoon as we made potato cutlets and practiced our Urdu by naming all the ingredients in Urdu and using our Urdu counting skills.

Ingredients

Potatoes: six medium sized (wash thoroughly with skin on)
Egg: one
Salt: to taste
Black pepper: to taste
Cumin powder: one table spoon
Lemon: one
Red chilli powder: to taste
Breadcrumbs: 1/2 cup
Green onions: two chopped

Instructions

Boil the potatoes with the skin on. Mash into a smooth paste and add salt, black pepper, red chilli powder, green onions, cumin powder and breadcrumbs. Squeeze a lemon on top. Beat an egg separately and add to the mix.

Now take small balls out of the mix and shape into patties. Fry the patties and your cutlets are ready!

Practice some Urdu with your children along the way as you make this recipe! Children love to learn the Urdu words for all the ingredients as they smell and feel the texture. You can also encourage them to count in Urdu with you as you do the various steps.
